[net curtains]

Rend

Black net curtains appear to have been shredded, with gaping rips and tatters hanging down. Has somebody been standing at a window looking out and fretting at the fabric, or is it simply neglect that has brought it to this sorry state?

A symbol of respectability, these nets no longer conceal but betray what’s inside, exposing what was private and hidden. This fragile barrier has disintegrated becoming undependable.

These curtains were not designed to be drawn back, but were created as a barricade between the inner and outside worlds, and through the anxious process of worrying at the material, it is no longer possible to hide.
