Adulterate
Collect one of my redacted bottles from my Adulterated installation.
Materials: empty alcohol bottle, marker pen
Hundreds of black bottles stand as sentries, solemn and isolated. Each has a power of its own, but en masse they seem overwhelming. They are a record of consumption. Looking closely the bottles are not a solid colour but rather they’ve been entirely redacted with a fine marker pen.
This accumulation embodies a sense of shame – a hangover of sorts. Maybe each bottle represents a small regret or – taken together – perhaps the installation speaks to a just one life lived in thrall to alcohol.
